Climate Justice
Dissolve and alleviate the unequal burdens created by climate change. It is a fair treatment of all people and freedom from discrimination with the creation of polices and projects that address climate change.
What it Does? Who is climate change affection the most? People of color Low-income Communities Indigenous communities How climate change affect us? Rising temperatures human lives are affected by compromised health, financial burdens, and social cultural disruptions Heat-related illness and death Respiratory illness, infectious diseases Unaffordable rises in energy cost Extreme Natural Disasters What causes global climate change? The climate System Carbon Cycle Greenhouse Gases effect Alterations
In Seriously…!! Watch the news all around the globe natural disasters are happening in the U.S., a vast majority of low-income, communities of color are concentrated in urban centers in the southern United States an along coastal regions- Areas at high risk of flooding and major storms, and that have a history of substandard air quality.
Where...? Require those most responsible for creating impacts that arise from climate change to bear the proportionate cost of responding to the resulting economic, social and environmental crisis.
Develop a national goal supported by legislatively dedicated resources to transition us from the fossil fuel economy to the green by 2020. Establish a zero carbon Economy.
Ensure that carbon reduction strategies do not negatively impact public health.
Protect all of America’s people – regardless of race, gender, nationality, or socioeconomic status. Position the public sector to be a catalyst for change in the transition to the green, clean renewable energy economy.
Create the opportunity for all Americans to experience a just transition as well as participate in the creation and operation of a new green economy. Environmental Justice Climate Justice Environmental justice demands that public policy be based on mutual respect and justice for all peoples, free from any form of discrimination on bias. Environmental Justice protects the right of victims of environmental injustice to receive full compensation and reparations for damages as well as quality health care. Environmental Justice opposes the destructive operations of multi-national corporations. Environmental Justice opposes military occupation, repression and explotation of lands, people and cultures, and other life forms.
