Twitter: Revising and editing to get message to 140 characters. Also includes discussions, debates, and collaboration (Kurtz, 2009)
Graphic Organizers/Notes: Students can use these tools for brainstorming and developing big ideas (Sundeen, 2007). Students' revising skills are limited because of a lack of motivation (Graham, 1997).
Students need specific motivation and praise for their work (Lacina & Griffith, 2012).
Writing Next effect size=.82 (high) (Graham & Perin, 2007). Students can work together plan, revise, and edit texts (Graham & Harris, 2011).
Focus on clarity and mechanical errors collaboratively. (2011)

Graphic organizers are used as tools for modeling and scaffolding (Lee & Tan, 2010).
Students initially avoid stress of having to think of a topic on their own (Sudheen, 2007) (18) Writing/Expository and Procedural Texts. Students write expository and procedural or work-related texts to communicate ideas and information to specific audiences for specific purposes. Students are expected to:

(A) create brief compositions that:

(i) establish a central idea in a topic sentence;
(ii) include supporting sentences with simple facts, details, and explanations; and
(iii) contain a concluding statement;

(C) write responses to literary or expository texts and provide evidence from the text to demonstrate understanding. TEKS Released in 2010 (Satariano, 2012).
Students are familiar with other similar technology (Gong & Wallace, 2012).
Teachers concerned about iPad effect on learning, cost, ease of use, and distraction level (2012).
Abundance of educational apps

Heavy instruction not needed.
Colors choices were biggest appeal.
If you have the simplemind desktop on your iPad or computer, it will save there.
