Nuclear Energy Nuclear Energy is energy that is released by splitting atomic nuclei or by forcing the nuclei of atoms together. There are over 400 nuclear power plants worldwide. Nuclear Energy takes up 20% of the energy we use in the United States. It is produced by a controlled chain reaction and creates heat. IN France Nuclear Energy is most used supply 80% of its energy!
