Transcript of Academic Tidbits - April 2011
Check your Registration Time and Holds Your registration time determines when your register, you cannot change this time. Without your hold removed, you cannot register. If you have other holds, please see those departments NOW to take care of the hold. If you are taking summer classes here at UNI, just be sure that these classes will apply to your Liberal Arts Core, Major Study, or University Electives. Make sure to review the new course numbers to make sure you know which classes you need to register for to fulfill both the Liberal Arts Core and classes in your major. Find a list of old and new course numbers here:
http://www.uni.edu/catalog/sites/default/files/Crosswalk-by-Course-Number.pdf Read the 2010-2012 University Catalog sections that pertain to general university information and your specific major or majors of interest. This will help you learn more about what classes you need to take and what they are all about. Here is a direct link to the catalog http://www.uni.edu/catalog/ Review your degree audit. Make sure that all your AP, CLEP, and Transfer credit is correctly listed and your school(s) have sent the most recent copy. Any questions on your degree audit, contact an advisor. Make sure to complete this online tutorial to help with the new registration system: http://panopto2.its-et.uni.edu/Panopto/Pages/Viewer/Default.aspx?id=a5b6f2a7-be65-45f3-b138-9c59f21d8fed Make a list of questions. 319-273-3406 If you plan to take classes over the summer at an Iowa community college, there are some specific things you need to plan for: Sign in to MyUNIverse, click on the Academics tab, and use the "UNI Transfer Plan-it" tool to determine which of the courses you take will transfer, and what UNI courses you can substitute them for.
Check with the UNI Registrar's office to make sure the classes you are taking will transfer and apply to your Liberal Arts Core or Major program. It may be a good idea to get something in writing.
Make sure to request that your community college send an official transcript to UNI after you complete your summer classes. The Office of Academic Advising also has walk in hours until April 22 from 8:15-11:30 a.m., and 1:15-4:30 p.m. if you want to meet with your advisor. After that, call 273-3406 to make an appointment
