Transcript of Lyosgenic and Lytic Cycle

Lysogenic and Lytic Cycle Tanin Richards and Kennedy Zellmer Bacterium Bacteriophage Bacteriophage : A virus that infects bacteria; also called a phage. The Phage injects its DNA into the cytoplasm. The cell releases the new Phage. The new Phages can now connect to other bacterial cells. The new phage DNA and proteins are being synthesized. The Phage's DNA joins into the bacterial chromosome forming a Prophage. The DNA is copied during cell division. Lytic Cycle Lysogenic Cycle Replication of the DNA begins. Then the two copies of the DNA split. Lytic Cycle- A viral reproductive cycle resulting in the release of new viruses by the breaking open of the host cell. Lysogenic Cycle- A bacteriophage reproductive cycle in which the viral genome is incorporated into the bacterial host chromosome as a prophage.
