Albums
Their

deb
ut album, Whatever People Say I am, That's What I'm not (released in 2006, when Andy Nicholson left) was released on January 23rd 2006.
It quickly became the UK's fastest selling debut album, selling over 360,000 copies in it's first week of release. It is cited as one of the best rock albums of the decade.
Their second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare, was first released in Japan on the 18th of April 2007 before being released around the world.
In the first week of release the album sold 220,000 copies, emulating their debut album, by going straight to number one in the UK charts, despite selling 100,000 copies less than their record-breaking debut. The first two singles in the album, Brainstorm and Fluroscent Adolescent, were both UK top hits.
Their third album, Humbug, was
first released on the 19th of August
2009. Like their last album
Humbug too was released in Japan
first, followed by Australia, Brazil,
Ireland and Germany on the 21st of
August 2009. It was only on the 24th of
August 2009 when it was released in the
UK on the following day in the US and
in Greece on the 31st of August.
Later that week they performed at the
Reading Leeds Festival.
Their fourth album, Suck it and See, was released on the 6th of June 2011 in the UK and the next day in the US.
They worked on making this album with a more "Vintage" style.
The music video, Brick by Brick, was released shortly before the album details were revealed on March the 10th.
An interview with NME, Matt Helders said that this album would include songs more poppy, certainly more than Humbug was. This includes the song Black Treacle, which our project was based upon.

Their fifth album Arctic Monkeys, or
AM,, is to be released on the 9th of
September 2013. It contains their new
song Do I wanna Know? And contains
many guest appearances, It also contains
their hit single, R U Mine? which was
released in February 2012.
Awards
The band have won 5 Brit awards.
Winning Best British Group twice.
and have been nominated for Grammy Awards. This was why our shoe box was gold.

Internet
The band are heralded as one of the
first groups to become famous via the
internet (through fan based sites rather
than the band itself) with commentators
saying that they represent a change in the way in which new bands are promoted and marketed.

The band are also regarded as one
of the most prominent bands to be
part of the Post-Punk Revival in the UK
after achieving commercial success and
creating two number one singles in their debut album.
Our Project
The project that we made
was based upon the Arctic Monkeys
song Black Treacle.

Lately I've been seeing things
Belly button piercings
In the sky at night
When we're side by side

And I don't mean to rain

On anybody's cavalcade

One of those games you're gonna lose

But you wanna play it just in case

Now it's getting dark and the sky looks sticky

More like black treacle than tar

Black treacle, somebody told the stars

You are not coming out tonight

And so they found a place to hide

Does it help, you stay up late?

Does it help, you concentrate?

Does it tune you in when you chew your chin?

Am I ruining your fun?

And you talk the talk alright

But you walk the walk or catch the train

You wanted it, you got it

But you don't want it now

Now it's getting dark and the sky looks sticky

More like black treacle than tar

Black treacle, somebody told the stars

You are not coming out tonight

And so they found a place to hide

And now I'm out of place and I'm not getting any wiser

I feel like the sun dance kid behind a synthesizer

And I tried last night to pack away the laugh

Like a key under the mat

But it never seems to be there when you want it
