Stock Market
Definition
A “
Stock Market”
or “Equity Market” is the aggregation of buyers and sellers (a loose network of economic transactions, not a physical facility or discrete entity) of Stocks (also called shares), Bonds and other types of Securities.
Buyer
Seller
A Stock Market is Complex
because there are multiple interactions between it’s agents (The Huge Possible Number of Stock Transactions between Buyers and Sellers and also the Interactions between them and Brokers) which all could happen at the same second.

Banks
Companies
Investors
Portfolio Managers
A Stock Market is Adaptive

because the buyers and sellers change their behavior when they learn something new based on experience they had in the Stock Market. Their preferences and perspectives in the Stock Exchange will change over time, and the much time they experience the more efficient they would behave to be able to make more profits and face less losses. And also the Stock values change over time due to different events on the Economic, Political, Sociable levels. Example:
(The Global Financial Crises 2008),

that of curse changed the behavior of the Stock Traders.

Stock Market

Characteristics
1) Self-Organization:
Such system starts with a heterogeneous group of investors, whose interaction leads to “Self-Organization” into groups with different investment styles. And they are able to adjust to the perturbations that occur to their preferred status.

actions (Transactions) that must be chosen
2) Non-linear Connections:
There could be transactions (Buying, Selling) in the Stock Market not only between the members of a specific entity/region, but also between different foreign members of different entities/regions.

3) Emergence:
The Non-linear interactions between Investors and Brokers create new patterns on the Macro level of the Stock Market.
Example:
“Emergence in an Artificial Stock Market”:
Around 1988, W. Brian Arthur, an economist from Stanford University, and John Holland, a computer scientist from the University of Michigan, hit upon the idea of creating an artificial stock market inside a computer, one that could be used to answer a number of questions that people in finance had wondered and worried about for decades.

How does the Stock Market Work?
4) Autonomous Agents:
The Investors are able to make decisions according to simple rules that constrain their behavior.

You must have enough liquidity to buy new Stocks
Rule
So if i don't have enough liquidity, i should sell some of my Assets (Stocks)

The decision making of Investors are based on information provided to these investors about their present status and their anticipated one.

5) Decentralization:
Stock Market does not have a Hierarchical Structure that is widespread in organization and other administrative structure. There is no leadership or central control in Stock Market. Stock Market Preserve it’s status due to the Self-Organization feature.
Stock Market has a structure that consists of a network of various technical devices that enable investors to create a marketplace without a centralized location. Technology provides investors with access to various bids/ask prices and makes it possible for them to deal directly with other investors/dealers rather than with a given exchange.
