Johann Philipp Reis, Innocenzo Manzetti, Charles Bourseul, Amos Dolbear, Sylvanus Cushman, Daniel Drawbaugh, Antonio Meucci, Edward Farrar, and Elisha Gray.
The inventor who is most credited for the telephone is Alexander Graham Bell. Though he never received any credit, it has been said that Bell had a substantial amount of assistance from Antonio Meucci in inventing the telephone. Bibliography:

-Both inventors entered the patent office around the same time to receive a patent for their inventions.

-They later entered a legal battle over the telephone, in the end, the legal battle was won by Alexander Graham Bell. Bell won the patent battle with the help of his lawyer.
