August (Auggie) Pullman
August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to school. He's ten years old and about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and if you've ever been the new kid then you know how hard can that be. He lives with his dog, Daisy, his sister, Olivia, his mom and his dad. He is obsess with Star Wars and likes to play video games on his Xbox. When he was little, he would wear an astronaut helmet his sister's friend gave him because it made him feel good about himself. It covered his face so no one could see his facial deformation.
Auggie has a big sister, Olivia. Olivia is very protective when it comes to her little brother. She gets the lead in her school play and doesn't want Auggie to be there. She doesn't want to be known as the "freak's older sister". But she knows 100% that her brother is not a freak, she doesn't want that.
Auggie made some new friends and had a rough time in school but overall it was a great year for him. He was happy he went to school and can't wait for next school year.
Summer is one of Auggie's friends. One day, Summer just decided to sit with Auggie. She's a great friend and the reason why she ditched her old friends is because she felt bad for Auggie. She didn't care about what other people think.
Jack Will is one of Auggie's friends too. Auggie and Jack met when Auggie was touring the school. They became friends after they met. Auggie and Jack sat together in their schedule subjects. Even though the two had some difficulties, they remained friends.
"I have just finished reading Wonder. I would really recommend it to lots of my friends because it made me feel happy and it made me think about how important it is to be kind."
--Josh Hartigan, age 12
"August Pullman reminds us of what true beauty is."
