The program taught the boys and girls how to become the ideal citizens of Germany and trained them to become avid supporters of Hitler. Hitler Youth emphazied all of Hitler's beliefs such as extreme nationalism, racism, and obediance towards Hitler. Boy's Program They joined a boy's group at the age of ten known as Deutsches Jungvolk but transfered to Hitler Jugend at the age of thirteen through eighteen. During this time they learned how to march correctly, shoot pistols, dig trenches, crawl under barbed wire, as well as many other skills usful for a Nazi solider. The boys were trained at this time to become ideal soliders so when they turned eighteen they would join the Nazi party. Girls Program Girls joined Jungmadelbund at the age of ten and transfered to Bund Deutscher Madel at the age of thirteen. These different groups focussed on different skills according to her age. In Hitler youth, the girls learned skills such as running, swimming, and other activities for physical fitness. Also, they learned how to cook, clean and make a bed. These skills taught the girls to be good housewifes and support Hitler in more domestic ways. History Hitler Youth was founded by Adolf Hitler in the 1920's
By 1936, when Hitler was in complete power, he demolished all other youth groups which raised the attendence of Hitler Youth to 4 million people. The ages it targeted was from 10 to 18 years old. Those ages were ideal because they had the ability to absorb information and by 18, a person became an adult. "The weak must be chiselled away. I want young men and women who can suffer pain. A young German must be as swift as a greyhound, as tough as leather, and as hard as Krupp's steel." -Adolf Hitler
