Journey to Photosynthesis and Cellular respiration. This may be end of the journey
but this is a cycle so, it will repeat it self forever. The Carbon Atom will be taking the journey through Photosynthesis. What is Photosynthesis??? Photosynthesis is the process by which plants, algae, and some bacteria create complex organic molecules from carbon dioxide, water, and light energy. What is Cellular respiration??? Cellular respiration is a process that releases stored energy from food, using oxygen as a reactant and giving off carbon dioxide as a product. What is happening? In light dependent reaction, energy from the sun is being converted into chemical energy like ATP. So, it can be used later. The Chroloplast Calvin Cycle What it basically doing is the opposite. In photosynthesis, light energy, carbon dioxide and water react to form glucose and oxygen. In cellular respiration, glucose and oxygen react to form carbon dioxide and water, releasing energy that the cell can use to do work. What happens to carbon atoms when transitioning from photosynthesis and respiration??? Where does photosynthesis happen in a plant??? Can you Guess??? Carbon Atoms starts out in the photosynthesis as a carbon dioxide molecules.
Having 2 o and 1 c CO2 is broken down in to O and C ATP is created in the thylakoid membrane that can be used later This is the first step of photosynthesis, which is also known as light dependent reaction. What's the next step??? After light dependent reaction, it will be
light independent reaction (Calvin Cycle). In this phrase the carbon atoms are rearranged to create many glucose As you can see many ATP is made in this step. The ATP made are used for energy in the cells. One very important thing is released from this process... Oxygen!!! That's the end of photosynthesis cycle. What's Next? Cellular Respiration The animals takes in the oxygen and glucose The carbon atoms continue in animals cells where it will
be processed and arranged for ATP uses for animal. Which enters the mitochondria The process of electron chain is in occurrence. Many ATP is made here. Like plant ATP, ATP made from cellular respiration is used to power other things.
