Transcript of The Origin of Mini-pigs
also known as Tea cup pig, micro pig, pocket pig, Juliana pig
specially bred for medical purposes in Europe in 1960s then later introduced into the U.S. in 1980s
based on genetics average size range between 45 - 200 lbs (20 - 91 kg)
life span of 15 - 20 years
got the public's attention from being well-known Hollywood stars' pet
Three types of tails
Very timid by nature
310 degrees of vision
Intelligent (the 4th / 3 year old child) and it can be trained
Because of its costly price, there are lots of scams on the Internet
Tea-cup / Micro / Mini does not mean pigs will stay under 30 lbs when they are fully grown
Recommended ways to get pigs are to adopt from a pig sanctuary or buy them from farms acknowledged by the mini pig registries (Juliana Pig Association & Registry or Southern California Association for Miniature Potbellied Pigs)
Before to get one DO YOUR RESEARCH. Lots of pigs are being abandoned because of their not so small size.
"I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals." - Sir Winston Churchill
