What is Obesity
Obesity is a condition that is associated with having an excess of body fat, defined by genetic and environmental factors that are difficult to control when dieting.

eating large amounts of processed or fast food that is high in fat and sugar.
drinking too many sugary drinks – including soft drinks and fruit juice
comfort eating – if you feel depressed or have low self-esteem, you may eat to make yourself feel better
What importance does this topic hold? Why are we doing this?
This project is important because many kids nowadays are obese. They are mostly obese because of the lack of proper nutrition and exercise knowledge.
We are doing this project to inform kids and adults around the community.

Obesity can cause emotional trauma and stigma associated with their weight
Patients suffering from obesity can be severely distressed.
New research tools and large studies will lead to an understanding of genes and their interaction to cause obesity.
Some medications say they will help you lose weight but they may be the reason why you are gaining weight.
(e.g., high energy/high fat foods, fast food consumption, television watching, "super-sized" portions, etc.) rather than biological ones.
Recent hypotheses in the scientific community suggest the current obesity epidemic is being driven largely by environmental factors...
It is a mistake to think that obesity is a problem only in certain social or racial groups. The prevalence of significant obesity in the U.S. population is 29% for Caucasians, 34% for Hispanics and 40% for African Americans. Fully 78% of African American females are overweight or obese.

Lose- 1,100-1,300 calories
Maintain- 1,400-1,600 calories
Average 12 year old
Lose- 1,100-1,300 calories
Maintain- 1,550-1,750 calories

Lose- 1,200-1,400 calories
Maintain- 1,700-1,900 calories
