ELLA WHEELER WILCOX Family, Life, and Friends. She was the youngest of four She married a man by by the name of Robert Wilcox at the age of 28 Location & Time Period She was born in 1850 Born in a rural area of Johnstown Wisconsin but soon after she moved to Madison Then in 1891 she lived in New York for a year Then she lived in short beach for the remainder of her life, in a house she and her husband christened "The Bungalow" She died in 1919. Her home in Short Beach, Connecticut Living by the beach might have been an influence in her later poems emotion and tone. One of her most famous quotes on a stone near her home. Personal Interests and Awards She had always written poetry, even from a younge age. One of her most famous moments was when she was chosen to write a poem in honor of queen Victoria after her death in 1901. Many knew her as the most famous person in short beach. Along with poetry, she also wrote plays, novels, and columns in newspapers. Wrote her first book at age 9, it was 11 chapters long.
