How To Transfer Files Via Memory Sticks
What is a USB Stick?
A USB device can be used in a similar way to a floppy disk but it is inserted into the USB port - it is then seen by the computer as a removable drive. They typically come in sizes from 512MB to 32GB upwards depending on the price paid.
So, how do you Insert a USB?
It is very simple, most USB ports are located on the back side of your computer, and are about 5/8-inch wide and 1/4-inch tall. Once found, all what you need to do is simply place the USB in the Port
A universal serial bus (USB) flash drive is a small, portable device that plugs into a computer's USB port. Like a hard disk, it stores information, but with a flash drive you can easily transfer that information from one computer to another. Flash drives vary in size and shape, but are seen as easy-to-use as they are small enough to be carried in a pocket and can hold gigabytes of information. USB flash drives are also called pen drives, key chain drives, key drives, sticks and memory keys.
What happens Next?
In most cases, an autoplay menu appears. Here, you have a variety of options of what to do, including viewing files which have already been uploaded onto the device (highlighted).
Your device will also be recognized and shown in "My Computer", under "Devices with removable storage".
Now What?
There are now a range of ways in how to transfer whatever files you wish. The tutorial next will give an example of one way how to transfer a document onto a flash drive.
Once put onto the USB, how do I put the data back on a computer?
(Another Tutorial)
How I use a Flash Drive
When the autoplay menu appears, I click on the "View Files".
I would then highlight the files and then drag them into my documents
If I wanted to transfer files from my computer to the USB, I slightly do it diffrently. I would start of by slecting and copying the files I wish To be Transferred:
I would then go to "My Computer", click on my device and then paste my files.
