Explain the 4 skills of a coach

Describe verbal and non verbal communication

Evaluate the skills to your own practice

Analyze a coach that posses these skills, explain how they apply them.

Coaches must be able to use both types of communication methods NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION
WHY: short indicative messages to support technique or tactics

HOW: hand gestures, facial expressions, body language Non verbal communication Use the cards to identify what the person is saying without speaking

Did we all interpret the body language and gestures

in the same way?

Have a look at other tables and see what they came up with?
watch the video and look out for:

Verbal – tone, pace, volume

Non – verbal – body language, appearance, facial expressions, gestures

communication WHEN: The moment is usually brief and during fast or competitive play use the mini whiteboards to unscramble the key terms






Discuss on your tables: Record on the whiteboards:WHEN, HOW & WHY FOR both types of communication

Choose something to whisper send it around the whole of the group

Did the person at the end get it right? IT AS JUST AS IMPORTANT TO LISTEN..........REMEMBER COMMUNICATION IS A 2 WAY PROCESS !! Evaluate the difference in techniques

Basketball:You have planned a dribbling session, you have 18 participants. Your plan states you require a ball each to complete the set tasks. You turn up to find there are only five balls Make a list of what you need to do:

1. communication: a variety of communication techniques to reach all players. He uses positive ques such as facial expressions and body language to encourage and maximize success. He is a great listener and is able to work with the player to create a two way communication system.
