Point of View
The point of view in the story is a third person narration. Every chapter the point of view is through Summer, Louis, or Collins eyes.
Summer gets kidnapped by a man named Collin on the night she walked in town by herself to a friends party. She gets locked in his cellar for over six months before the police find her. The cellar she was locked in was put together just like a normal house or apartment. While she was down there, she met three other girls who had also been kidnapped by Collin. The girls names were Rose, Poppy, and Violet. Summers new name was Lily and Collins name was Clover. Collin likes flowers so much that he uses the names of flowers to name the girls and himself in his new "family". Collin ends up being caught by the police with the help of Louis. Summer and the other girls were rescued and Collin was sent to jail.
The theme in the book is to be careful and not walk on the streets alone.
The conflict in the book was when Summer was kidnapped. Everyone dropped what they were doing and went searching for her.
The resolution in the story is when the police go into Collins house at the perfect time. The cellar door was wide open and Collin was attacking the girls with a knife. They rescued the girls and Collin was sent to jail. I really liked the ending of the book. It was a happy ending because Louis was reunited with Summer, Collin was sent to jail, and the other girls were finally saved after years of being locked in the cellar.
The quote I picked is,
" 'Lily?' 'I`m not Lily. I`m Summer. You have the wrong person'."
I picked this quote because Summer had hope that Louis would find her and that she would be rescued. The other girls just gave up hope and mentally changed their names to the names Collin gave them.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes suspenseful, sad, thriller, and scary stories. At the end of each chapter, there is so much suspense that it makes you want to read more. The book is so well written you cant stop reading until you read it all.
