What is it?
How do I get involved?
Network of over 15,000 of the world's top business and finance students;
Exposure to investment industry professionals;
Real-world learning experience;
On site opportunities: keynote speakers, educational sessions, and recruiting sessions .
CFA Institute member societies and volunteers organize each local level competition and invite universities in their geographic region to participate.
A faculty adviser is designated for each participating university; this adviser will help field a team of 3-5 students to represent their university.
How does it work?
Each team is assigned an investment industry professional – usually a charterholder – who helps students connect academic theory with real-world practice.
Each local competition selects a publicly-traded stock for their teams to analyze.
Teams analyze the stock, sometimes meeting face-to-face with company management, and write an initiation of coverage report that includes a buy, sell, or hold recommendation.
At each Local Final competition, teams present and defend their recommendations to a panel of judges.
What do teams do?
The winning team from each local challenge will advance to one of three regional competitions:
The winning team from each regional challenge will advance to the Global Final in mid-April.
One team will be named global champion.
Note that CFA Institute does not administer local level competitions or determine the student or university participation at the local level.
