Member Integration Overview
Once you have retrieved the ORCID iD and access token store them for later use.
Given your audience, what is the compelling reason for the user to add their ORCID iD to your system?
Encourage the User
Launch the process
Send the user to the ORCID website to connect or link to their ORCID iD. The user can authorize your access to their Record.

ORCID Kicks off the process
The user to authorizes your access to their record. Then we “call”
your import wizard, providing
you with the user’s ORCID iD, and an authorization code for you to continue the process.
You present your search & link wizard
...and send the info via the API
On your researcher profile page suggest a link to ORCID
Link to my ORCID Record
User authorizes the addition
"Your-site" profile link
Link appears on the ORCID Record
Prepare data for the new ORCID Record

Encouraging researchers to create their own records
Since ORCID iD are designed to be owned and controlled by the researcher, it is often better to have the researcher create their own iD, immediately followed by a connection to your system.
