Transcript of Plant and Animal Cell Analogy

Cell Membrane: The front door of my house
These are both selectively permeable. This means that they both choose what to let in and out of the premises.
Cell Wall: The Structure of a House

Honors Biology
The structure of a house can be related to the cell wall of a plant cell because both are used for support.
Mitochondria: Generator
A generator can be related to the mitochondria of a plant or animal cell because they both create energy. They would both be considered power houses.
Centriole: A knife
A knife can be compared to a centriole because they are both used to split things up. The centriole is used in cell division and the knife would be used to divide foods.
Chloroplasts: Solar Panels
Chloroplasts can be compared to solar panels because in the way that the chloroplast converts carbohydrates into energy, the solar panel turns the sunlight in to energy.
Ribosome: Kitchen
The ribosomes can be compared to a kitchen because they both create energy. The kitchen cooks food which people eat, which gives them energy.
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum: Plumbing
These two objects are related because the rough E.R. transports the ribosomes around the cell, while the plumbing of a house transports the water to where it needs to go.
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum: Washing Machine
These two are similar because the Smooth E.R. is where the cell is detoxed. This is a synonym for cleaning. The washing machine in a house cleans all of the dirt from the clothes.
Nucleus: Circuit Breaker Panel
The nucleus and the breaker panel a alike in the way that they are controlling something. The Circuit breaker controls all of the electricity in the house, just like the nucleus controls the cell.
Nucleolus: Garden
The nucleolus and a garden are alike because the nucleolus makes ribosomes, which is makes protein. A garden grows vegetables, which is protein for the human body.
Golgi Apparatus: USPS
These two can be related because the Golgi Apparatus is the storing and packaging center of the cell. The USPS packages items for people.
Cytoplasm: Hair gel
These two things can be related because they are both used to hold and keep things where they are supposed to be. Cytoplasm keeps all of the organelles in place, while the hair gel keeps all your hair in place.
Lysosome
Lysosome: Garbage Disposal
These two things can be related because the lysosome cleans, and gets rid of the waste in the cell. The garbage disposal also gets the waste out of your house. By using the garbage disposal, you don't have to have stinky food rotting in your trash can.
Cytoplasm: Hair gel
These two can be related because cytoplasm holds all of the organelles in their place in the cell. The hair gel holds all of your hair in the spot that you want it.
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum: Washing machine
These two can be related because the Smooth E.R. is a detox for the cell, which is basically cleaning. the washing machine cleans all of the dirt and gets rid of all the unwanted stuff on your clothes.
