Yes, the characters told a story and they made it believable to the viewers. They showed us the extent of Salieri's jealousy towards Mozart and his music.
5. From your readings, does the movie answer any questions about Mozart's death?
Yes, this movie makes it very obvious that Salieri is jealous of Mozart and would do absolutely anything to get rid of him. It is possible, based on my readings and this movie, that Salieri murdered Mozart out of professional jealousy.
Antonio Salieri was born August 18, 1750
He was an Italian composer whose operas were very famous throughout Europe in the late 18th century
Salieri’s first opera, Le donne letterate, was produced at the Burgtheater in Vienna in 1770.
Four years later, the emperor made him the court composer, and in 1788 he became Hofkapellmeister, which Salieri had for 36 years.
During his official career he composed operas not only for theatres in Austria but also for companies in France and Italy.
His best-known work was the French opera Tarare (1787)
Salieri’s last opera was performed in 1804, and then he devoted himself to composing sacred music.
He was a teacher and among his students were Beethoven, Franz Schubert, and Franz Liszt.
Antonio Salieri created some of the most popular operas of the day, becoming a leading musical figure in Viennese, Parisian and Italian circles.
Salieri died on May 7, 1825.
When do you think Mozart and Salieri met?
They both lived in Vienna at the same time
They met at an opera
What Kind of Relationship Did They Have?

Does their music sound the same or different? Explain.
Their music sounds different in many ways. Mozart's music is more fast pace and has a happier melody to it. Salieri's music is a slower speed and is more relaxed. You feel the darkness in Salieri's composition of music. These two musical artists have different approaches on the classical music industry.
Salieri hated Mozart
They showed respect to each other because they were both composers
They crossed paths frequently because of their line of work
What was the importance of composing music for the Emperor?
While listening to Salieri's music you hear lower notes. It is more relaxed and has a slower beat. As I listen to his music I feel the darkness in it. The strings are also put together in a continuous melody.
It had to be very good
The music would be heard and seen in operas by many
The emperor had to enjoy it because if he didnt then you would probably be considered a failure
What kind of music did they both write?
Piano Concertos
Was there any jealousy between the two men? Explain.
Salieri hated Mozart because he saw him as a threat because of how much of a musical genius he was and how great his music was.
Mozart didn't see Salieri as any threat.
It had to be very good
The music would be heard and seen in operas by many
The emperor had to enjoy it because if he didnt
As you listen to Mozart's music you feel your spirits being lifted. The notes are high ones which make the music happier. It is put together in a continuous ways in which the same lines repeat.
