Transcript of Google

The History of Google The founders of Google are Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

1995: they met at Stanford University and were both computer science grad students

1996: Larry and Sergey began working on a search engine which they called "BackRub"

"BackRub" operated on Stanford's servers for more than a year until it took up too much bandwidth to suit the university.

1997: they renamed "BackRub" to "Google", a play on the mathematical term "Googol". Larry and Sergey chose this name because it reflected their desire to organize an infinite amount of information on the internet. Google Grows and Expands Google's workplaces:

Google profits from the the info collected from people and content ( movies, books, apps) purchased from the Play Store

They gather information about their users and provide it to third parties who create targeted advertisements for Google. These advertisements appear on the results page and correspond to what the user has searched for

Their strategy for Android is based on getting the largest market share. It is free for any manufacturer to put Android on their device, but they must comply with Google's standards to receive access to their services ie. the Play Store, GMail

The Nexus line of Android devices from Google are mostly a niche product but Google recently started the "race to the bottom" marketing strategy. They are trying to sell the most product for the lowest price. Google Market & Stock Value As of October 26th, 2012, Google's market value is:
