Saying the Pledge of Allegiance (video)
The Russian national flag is one Russian symbol. This flag has three wide horizontal stripes on it. The bottom stripe is red; the middle stripe is blue; the top stripe is white. These colors have always been symbolic in Russia: white—nobility and sincerity; blue—honesty and devotion, to friends, family and country; red—love and bravery
Our National Symbols
Russian people have always loved their country,
though life in Russia has never been easy. Russian people have always been devoted to their Motherland, fighting for peace and independence against enemies on their land.

Victory Day is the most cherished holiday for our people.
Victory Day marks Germany’s surrender to the Soviet Union in 1945. It became the end of the Great Patriotic War for the USSR, which lost more than 25 million citizens in the four years of fighting. We honor the memory of those who died in this terrible war and are proud of our veterans. They gave all of us an opportunity to live and to enjoy the sun, the birds’ singing and free peaceful air but nowadays not everywhere people understand it.
Symbols we are proud of and will never refuse

St. George ribbon
people wear this black-and-yellow ribbon on their clothes

Red carnations – blood red is the color of the Soviet flag under which the veterans had fought.
Red Star medal – a military distinction for bravery.

To be Russian means to restore temples, monasteries, to donate for construction of cathedrals, hospitals, orphanages, to provide humanitarian assistance, to be patient to other nations , to trust to others, to have a sense of humor, to have a great capacity to overcome hardships, to take care of all homeless and the poor. It means to have a wide soul, be kind and generous, sincere and open.
Compassion and mercy, love for our families, respect for parents, interests of our children, the desire for happiness are also Russian and American traits of character.
We love peace and hate war.
Let there always be peace in the world!

What it means to be Russian
“Circled the Earth in space satellite, I saw how beautiful our planet is.
People, let’s keep and increase this beauty, but not destroy it”.
Gagarin, 1961

We live in one of the largest countries in the world. The territory of Russia covers 17,126 million square kilometers. The scenery of Russia varies a lot from region to region. There are steppes in the south, plains and taiga in the north, highlands and deserts in the east.

American's enjoy many different ethnic foods not native to America. In addition, each region of the country has a specialty. We love cheeseburgers, fried chicken, seafood, steaks, turkey, chocolate, and apple pie. For breakfast we enjoy eggs, pancakes or waffles, bacon or sausage, and fruit. Americans are big coffee and tea drinkers!
