About The Author
Structure and Organization
The Maze Runner is a buildingsroman or a coming of age story because throughout the novel we see Thomas grow in more ways than one. In the beginning of the novel, Thomas was to stand up to anyone, though he was often mistreated. As the story progresses, Thomas learns to be more aggressive and not take anyone trying to make him feel less than he is. Thomas also grows a great amount of courage when he jumps out into the Glade in an effort to save Minho and Alby, two boys he barely knew at the time. In the end it is Thomas who ends up saving everyone from the seemingly unresolvable maze.
