Definitions of abnormality Failure to function adequately Deviation from social norms Deviation from Ideal Mental Health Statistical infrequency Inability to hold down a regular job Inability to carry out everyday tasks Low statistical frequency within the population Fore example, we can be of higher IQ than the average but not labelled as abnormal When behaviour does not fit into the normal social codes Inability to meet certain criteria to carry out jobs
