1. In many schools, one teacher would be in
charge of instructing many grade levels. 2. Students used to get hit with paddles or rulers if they did something wrong. 3. Many poor kids did not have a chance to attend school. Agriculture then 1. Prior to the1800s,most people who called Ohio home earned their living through farming. 2. Most farmers who produced a surplus, sold their products locally or sent them down the Ohio Mississippi Rivers to New Orleans. 3.By the 1840s and 1850s railroads replaced the canals and connected Ohio with much of the U.S, allowing farmers to transport their products quickly and cheaply to market. 4. Farmers had the most success during times of war,providing it's allies with food.
