Simple Machines
Wallace and Gromit
Wallace has invented a "Tellyscopio" to control the television. Make a list of any simple machines that you see. There are many!
What did you see?
What are simple
machines?
Simple machines are machines with very little parts and they help us do things
Let's look at the six simple machines
#1: The Pulley
What is a pulley?
A wheel that turns on an axis with a rope. We use a pulley to
raise
and
lower
objects
#2: The wedge
The wedge is used to separate two objects. Formed by two inclined planes.
#3: Inclined Plane
Also known as a ramp, it is used move objects across distances
#4: The Lever
A rigid bar that is used to raise an object on one side
Three main parts:
Fulcrum: Point of support
Load: where we exert the force
CLASS THREE LEVER:
The effort is between the fulcrum and the load
#5: The Screw
A type of inclined plane, with a spiral on the outside and a point at the end.
#6: The wheel and axle
Consists of one or two wheels moving onthe same axel, like on a bicycle or car.
