Henry Longfellow Henry Longfellow's family Mother and Father of Henry Biography: Henry Longfellow was first a teacher at Bowdoin and then later at Harvard. Henry later retired from teaching in 1854 to focus on his writing. he lived the remained of his life in Cambbridge,Massachusetts,in a former headquarters of George Washington. He lost his first wife in 1835 after a miscarriage. he then later lost his second wife in 1861after sustaining burns from her dress catching on fire.
