Transcript of Angry Birds: "The Parabolic Edition"

Blue Bird
Black Bird
Black Bird's flight path can be modeled by the quadratic equation y=-x^2+16x-39
Red Bird
Red Bird's flight is represented by the graph below.
Yellow Bird
The table below contains partial data points of Yellow Birds trajectory.
Angry Birds: "The Parabolic Edition"
Blue Birds starts his flight from point (6,0). His flight path reaches a maximum height of 22yards and lands at point (26,0).

Our start point was given as well as the end point. Also the max. height. Since all parabolas have a line of symmetry, there had to be one on this one, so we found it. Since it goes 22 yards in height, and the line of symmetry is on 1, the vertex must be (16,22).
We found the vertex, then we made an x,y table. we plugged in the numbers and we graphed.

The distance traveled is given becaseu it gave us the start point(0,0) and the end point (24,0). Axis of symmetry is 12 because half of 24 is 12, and every parabola had a line of symmetry. It's hard to tell what the max. height would be, but it looks like it's in the middle of 12 and 18, so it's 15.
Some points are given, so we graphed those, and since every parabola has a line of symmetry, that means that the opposite side will be the same, so we got the same numbers (decreasing) after (19,35). Know it's a parabola and opposite sides are the same.
Yellow Bird
flew the highest:36
Red Bird
traveled the longest:24 yards
Yellow Bird
hit King Bird.
Blue Bird
hit the Moustache Pig.
