is the honor society
of the scouting program.
A scout is elected into the OA by his own
peers for outstanding service and
demonstrating the scout oath and law
in their everyday life Scouting in Media Television In much of our television and movies today,
scouting is seen as weird, different, and can send
a negative image of the program as a whole to people Although these television shows and movies are designed to be lighthearted humor, many take
these actions within the cartoon or film seriously. Issues of debate Homosexuals in scouting There is a debate over whether gays should be allowed into scouting, and the debate as a whole has hurt the scouting organization greatly from both sides of the debate Currently the BSA has stated that no youth may be denied membership based on sexual orientation or preference alone.
This goes into effect January 1, 2014
Many are still upset that gay leaders are still not permitted within scouting Conclusion Although scouting still has its problems, overall the program is a great way of preparing youth to become members of society, and can greatly aid them in their adult life .
