and school life. Historical Background of GUIDANCE and COUNSELING 20th century-in U.S Jesse B. Davis - first provide a systematic school guidance program 1907- He encouraged many teachers to use compositions and lessons to relate developmental character and avoid behavioral problems. 1908- Frank Parsons, ''Father of Vocational Guidance" established the Bureau of Vocational Guidance In 1918, vocational guidance spread throughout with more than 900 high schools in U.S. In 1964, the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) was formed 1981 - CACREP Accreditation of counseling programs begins -it helped outline a system of vocationalguidance in Boston public schools in U.S. 1998-American Vocational Association renamed Association for Career and Technical Education No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Policy Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) The mission of CACREP is to promote the professional competence of counseling and related practitioners through:
-the development of preparation standards;
-the encouragement of excellence in program development; and
-the accreditation of professional preparation programs. The vision of CACREP is to provide leadership and to promote excellence in professional preparation through the accreditation of counseling and related educational programs. As an accrediting body, CACREP is committed to the development of standards and procedures that reflect the needs of a dynamic, diverse, and complex society. CACREP accredits 165 counseling programs 2001- 2002 - Counseling in the Philippines Philippine Association for Counselor Education,Research and Supervision (PACERS) -
Established in March 6, 1976
