Why I choose this song?
I selected the song I Am Women to represent the topic of women's rights
I choose this song because the lyrics are meaningful and show the perspective of a women and how she views the situation
"But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong
I am invincible, I am woman" this lyric is a powerful lyric showing the strength in women
Women's Rights: Rights that promote a position of legal and social equality of women with men
Women's Rights, as the case may be is one of the last talked about problems from the news to the television
But why? Considering that half the worlds population is girls
Women's Rights is a continuous problem
In most cases girls rights are illegal in countries such as Saudi Arabia or are just ignored by society
Why Is This A Teen Issue?
Women's rights is a teen issue strictly because woman are teenagers
Due to the lack of rights, girls aren't able to go to school or drive, and for these and much more reasons are deprived from basic necessities
In less privileged countries girls are ranked second in comparison to males because of their body image, and knowledge
This even effects young girls view of themselves and their self worth
The lack of rights starts at a young age and progressively gets worse as girls age. Therefore making some girls insecure while growing up
Girls/Teenagers are the future generation and if they continue to grow up like this, have children of their own, the cycle will never break
The main message Helen is trying to tell us, is stand up for female independence and listen to what women have to say because we are people to
An example of why I think she is saying this is she states "I am woman, hear me roar"
"You can bend but never break me
'Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger"
I Am Women
"For example, women often work more than men, yet are paid less; gender discrimination affects girls and women throughout their lifetime; and women and girls are often are the ones that suffer the most poverty."
This article reflects a teen issue and to my CPT topic because throughout the article it mentions how the youth is growing up with this and the effects on young women
Also stating that why should women be picked on and not men? Considering that more then half the world is made up of girls
It is also reflects a teen issue because girls aren't able to get a education
Because I Am A Girl
An important quote I took from this website is "In the developing world, millions of girls are denied their basic human rights, simply because they are girls."
An important quote I took from this website is "We focus on the people that others forget. People in poverty. People who face discrimination. People whose voices are ignored."
