Nuclear Energy explained
ELABORATE!
What is containment?
the act or condition of containing.
It's the action of keeping something harmful under control or within limits so that it cannot spread in a harmful way. In this context, I guess it could refer to nuclear fuel used in nuclear reactors.
It's the act of keeping something under control.

Solar power isn't very popular. But recently it has got the attention of many people.
You need to remember that
the sun provides clean, renewable energy and it's free. Besides,
don't forget that
global warming is a serious issue that needs to be solved as soon as possible. In the next 100 years...

WHY DO WE USE OIL?
Hydroelectricity
is the only renewable resource exploited in

. In 2006, it accounted for 48% of total installed capacity and
72% of electricity generated
. The largest hydroelectric facility in the country is the
900 MW Mantaro Complex

in southern Peru, which is operated by state-owned Electroperu. The two hydroelectric plants at the complex generate over
one-third of Peru’s total electricity supply

WORD FAMILY
The longest trip I took was 12 hours long. Sure, it was an
incredible
experience, but after the flight, I felt an
immense
desire to never be on a plane again!
I think it's
incredible
to think about war in general. The history behind the Vietnam War, however, seems remarkable for me. Whenever I read about it or watch a movie - my favorite is 'Full metal jacket: Born to kill" - I get really
absorbed
into it.

NO WAY!
HOW TO MAKE GUESSES ABOUT THE PAST

My mother's father was from Lima, but he got married twice and ended up living in Huancavelica with my grandmother. My other grandparents were from Cajamarca, probably. My father's father was an abandoned child, so he
could have been born
elsewhere.
That's really interesting. It's the first time I've heard of a real story of child abandonment.
My parents met in Lima, but my father has lived in many other places before and after getting married. He has traveled all around the country.
Imagine that! I'd like to travel as much as your father!
I've traveled a lot, as well. I even went to Europe twice before. Last year, I was invited to Paris, France. So, I traveled alone and...

How many tons of salmon are caught each year in the Pacific?
How does the author describe the challenges salmon are facing?
Why do dams on rivers cause a problem?
What have many countries done to stop drift nets?
What have farmers done to raise salmon in different ways?
What has farm-raised salmon done to wild salmon in restaurants?
What have some countries done to raise young salmon?
Why do salmon need to be protected?

CRITICAL THINKING
WHAT IS HOPE?
to want something to happen and think that it is possible
a belief that something you want will happen
WHAT IS TO HOPE?
I really hope I can find a girl who loves me...
Example:
It would be nice if I found a friend...
I'm hoping that someone likes me one day...
No strong evidence. It's just a guess (might be a good one, though)
When one has strong evidence or impossibility, other modals are used

What's progress to you?
What traditions are important for you? Why?
The most interesting picture for me is the one with a talking robot.
It makes me wonder how much science and technology have evolved over the last 20 years and how further it'll advance in the future.

It's amazing how an AI (Artificial Intelligence) is capable of helping people.
To me, that's just overwhelming.

What's a period?
It's a determined lenght of time. Usually longer than just a few hours or days.

What are domestic animals?
They are animals that are not wild. They are kept on farms or as pets.
Check your answers by asking questions:
1. I think it's not only OK but necessary to contradict authority if one considers them to be wrong.
Nobody is flawless, so it's important to say what you say and, if you think something is not right, it's even imperative.

Of course, if it's my parents or teachers, I'll try to be polite.
Then, if I believe speaking my mind is essential, no matter whom I may be opposed to.
2. Yeah, I've experienced rejection several times.
I don't think someone hasn't, and that's why I don't consider myself unlucky.

For example, I have been rejected while trying to get a job because I was overqualified.
So, I think it's just about keeping on trying, isn't it?
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT BUTHAN?
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE YO KNOW ABOUT THIS COUNTRY?
Make a series of questions that might be answered in the audio.
What is another name for Buthan?

What type of government did it use to have?

When did Buthan get TV?

What are two positive effects of opening up the country?

I hope that,
for the year 3500, humans
will have been gathering
at least...

It would be great if,

made contact with an alien society, don't you think?
