Rapper Common made a song attacking rappers who also sing after there were rumors that Drake was dating his ex, tennis star Serena Williams. Although they were not directly refencing Drake, Drake responded in his song "Stay Schemin" basically saying that Common only said that for attention and to sell records. This feud was over quickly, Common even said "It was all in the art of hip-hop".
June 2012, Drake and Chris Brown were involved in a brawl in a night club in SoHo. About 8 people were injured and the cause to the fight is still unclear. However, the altercation happened soon after Drake began dating Rihanna, not too long after the domestic violence incident between Rihanna and Chris Brown. About two years later the two came together to do a skit for the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly putting an end to the drama the two of them had.
Jay-Z and Drake began a feuding with some subliminal lyrics targeted towards each other resulting in Drake saying that Jay-Z's art references are corny and Jay-Z calling Drake soft as a lacrosse team.
DMX said he hates everything about Drake on the radio; all because he used the vocals from an unreleased song by the deceased singer Aaliyah. DMX refuses to take back what he said.
In addition to many awards, Drake has had 11 songs to be Number 1 on the Billboard R&B and Hip Hop chart
Many people do not respect Drake because of his acting background and they assumed that he had a much easier life than other rappers and that he is "soft". Drake addressed this saying that his mom was disabled, and the only income they had was from his role in Degrassi which was comparable to teacher's salary. Drake also said that he has seen it all and had to grow up quickly.
