By: Austin, Sveta, Mary Anne, and Kayla Calculating Speed the speed of an object is the distance the object travels per unit of time speed = distance over time to calculate average speed divide the total distance traveled by the total time the speed of most moving objects is not constant Total distance = 32 km + 13 km = 45 km
Total time = 2 h +1 h = 3 h
Average speed = 45 km / 3 h = 15 km/h
*The average speed is 15 km per hour
