From Mid December 2014 to December 2016
Trained 76 clients in Overdose Response
Distributed 71 Naloxone Kits between Smiths Falls and Brockville and Carleton Place
The original goal for the first year was 15 kits!

Opioid Use in Leeds, Grenville & Lanark
in LGL in the past 18 months -
Modernizing opioid prescribing and monitoring
High-Strength opioids (taken off formulary)
Fentanyl Patch for Patch Program
Enhancing addiction supports and harm reduction
Expanded access to Naloxone
Naloxone kits for at-risk inmates (on release)
Intranasal Naloxone (role out between Jan – Mar 2017)
Harm Reduction (develop more harm reduction services)
Eligible Clients are;
16 years of age and older
Currently Using Opioids
Have had an Opioid Dependency
Have a family member or friend that is using or has a history of opioid use
15 minutes – 1 hr long training
Topics included in training:
breathing is very slow, eratic or not at all
or gurgling sounds
Client walks away with the following:
Contents of the Naloxone Kit
Three 0.4mg/1ml ampoules of Naloxone Hydrochloride
Three 3cc 25g 1 inch safety engineered syringes
Step by step pamphlet
Community Education and Awareness
Training at satellite sites (Interval House, Social Services etc.)
Referrals from community (figuring out a process)
Working with Local Jails
Increase awareness around GSL
Increase awareness on eligibility of Naloxone kits in LGL

Can take clients 3 months to come back to refill kits due to trauma, stigma, fear
17 people have been saved by Naloxone kits in the LGL!
The clients that did call 911 reported a good experience with EMS and Police
Clients that had a kit felt better about being able to help a friend
