Under this view, most definitively articulated in the Supreme Court's majority ruling in Roe v. Wade (1973), abortion must remain legal in every state. State laws that ban abortion, or pose an undue burden on women seeking abortions, are unconstitutional under this standard. Not everyone who opposes abortion rights believes that the federal government should ban all abortions. The most common view among 2008 Republican presidential candidates is that the federal government should have no involvement in the abortion rights debate either way--that state legislatures should be allowed to ban or not ban abortion as they so choose. Dr. Tiller Dr. Tiller was a well known abortionist in America. He was hated by many anti-abortionists because he performed late-term abortions. He was once shot at in 1993 where he had two bullet wounds in both arms. unfortunately he was killed in a bombing at his church by a man named Scott Roeder who was an anti-abortionist in 2009. Brookline Clinic Shooting In 1993, two abortion clinics were shot down by an anti-abortionist by the name of John Salvi. This case caught the attention of former President Clinton where he called this act a form of domestic terrorism Sarah Palin In the presidential campaign in 2008, Sarah Palin was asked a question about anti-abortion bombers and whether or not she believes that they are terrorists. She stated that calling them terrorists would be wrong. She believes that they are doing wrongful acts but it isn't an act of terrorism Planned Parenthood History Plays a large role in the abortion issue
