Ricardo Da Silva My Chemical Romance Case Study Background Information As we can by their Digi-Pak covers that the band has developed quite a vicious look whether it be through blood or dark imagery. this is one of the conventions we will look to emulate in our album cover. Furthermore the Digi-Pak cover somewhat reflects the image of the songs in the album. This allows the band to create a brand behind the music video and tour. This band in particular don't seem to keen on their faces appearing on the front cover, preferring instead to have graphics or drawings to represent the message. This says a lot about the band and their view of the music. Perhaps they believe that they don't want to be the reason people buy the music but in fact the quality be its main selling point. It important to point out that the name of the always comes up as distorted, whilst not always being the same it allows the bands name to stand out from the rest of the image but also blend in with the look the band is aiming for. DIGI-PAK covers Both the videos presented are pretty close representation to what their others videos look like. In NA NA song their is a detraction from reality and they form a alternative world to where they are super heroes. This is quite common as Rock N Roll see's itself as detached from the other mainstream music. Its important that we give the Rock genre justice by attempting to make it different to what you might see in an everyday video. We will try to add technical differences to make it stand out as opposed to expensive sets. In black parade we see a black and white video which we are keen on recreating in some form or another. This just adds the extra dimension that is common in Rock videos. It is only used as an attempt to create shadows which give it a unique look. Music Videos If we concentrate on the poster on the far right we see the first inclusion of the band members on the top just above the name. This is important as we could their faces are necessary for the structure of the poster. Furthermore we can see the digital links such as MSN and cube.com. Moreover we see promotions of merchandise and the day the album is out. While release day is vital the addition of the merchandise is another attempt to add Magazine advert What we can see with this band is that they can easily adapt their styles to keep up with the times. Despite us only producing one set of products which means no need for adaptation its important that we show through our products a sense of originality and uniqueness. this can be done through various methods which will lay mainly on the branding of the poster and digi-Pak as they accompany the video to such a degree that it changes peoples perception of the band in doing so. Final Conclusions My Chemical Romance is an American alternative rock band from New Jersey, formed in 2001.
The band consists of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way. Shortly after forming, the band signed to Eyeball Records and released their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002. They signed with Reprise Records the next year and released their major label debut Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004.
The Black Parade released in 2006 gained favorable reviews among music critics. Their fourth studio album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, was released on November 22, 2010, to positive reviews.
The band is currently working on a fifth studio album. As we can see through the sign above their is a clear attempt to create a brand for the band and a symbol that can be associated with the band. this sign appears in many of their posters and forms part of a recognizable identity that people will remember. If appropriate the group will look to create an image that goes well with the song and the bands look. This sign is similar to any sign we would create. Its simple and encapsulates what the band is about. Motif and star image Costumes As we can see from the image above, the band attempts to create a uniform look in what they wear. Whether it be the same outfit or style, they somehow never look disjointed. It obvious to see the attempt at creating a bit of a wacky look with there outfits. We must acknowledge that we must do the same in order to for a convincing image of the typical rock band. We may attempt the same type of ripped jeans and t-shirt look. This perhaps is a more accurate representation of a brand new band with less money to spend on elaborate costumes. The colors chosen link in with the rest of the aspects of the band. This allows every album to feel unique and different to the others.
