The 7 Traits of Human Beings
What does it mean to be human?
By: Drusila Telstad
2. Humans are called to happiness and holiness
3. Humans are rational and free
5. Humans have passions or feelings
1. Humans are created in the image and likeness of God
We are all human because God created us in his image. He created a world for humans to interact and share God's love within. We are called to love our bodies as we love God and to appreciate the creations God has given us.
Being human means to aspire for happiness that we can receive from God. Because we are created in His image we must seek the for the happiness within our hearts. Being happy can bring holiness upon our souls and share it with others as a symbol of love.
These pictures represent happiness, love and holiness. We can express our happiness to the world and we can pray to God to give us the strength to become happy.
As humans we are given the right to make our own decisions. By free will we can choose our own freedom. We can choose between what we want or need, what we can or can't do and shape our lives around our own choices. Freedom lies beneath the responsibility of what we do that is just and good.
4. Humans are moral beings
6. Humans are blessed with a conscience
Being human means we are moral beings. Our freedom makes us unique from any other creature in the world. We have our mind set to things that are either good or evil; moral or immoral. In order for us to do an act of good, we must choose what is good, our reason for doing it must be good, and the circumstances of the act must be good.
God has given us the gift of having feelings. Having them gives us a way to decipher between our senses. Our feelings and passions can be neither good or bad. They are either morally good or immorally evil depending on how we act upon them.
As humans we are blessed at heart with a conscience. Many may think of it as a voice within our head that tells us what is right and what is wrong. It is a sacred place where Gods voice gives us the faith to make the right choices that we should listen to.
7. Humans are able to sin
When we fail to love God or act against His will we sin. Sinning is an offense against God, reason, truth and right conscience. To be human we sin, as a result, we impact everything around us. To be forgiven we must confess our sins and ask for forgiveness. It is a part of life and we can choose from good or evil.
As humans we are free to make our own decisions. It is a balance of choosing between what will help us in the future or hold us back.
These two images represents how our minds function. It is the freedom we are given to make moral decisions.
By looking at these images you get an idea of how feelings and passions are gifts from God (The Holy Spirit). It makes us unique in the sense that we can have so many emotions.
Here this photo represents our conscience. The two voices in our minds that try to persuade us between good or bad.
A visual representation of how humans are able to sin. But we must realize that once we sin it gets between our relationship with God. Once we confess our sins we become closer and stronger with God.
As humans we interact and love each other. Our world has been given to us by the Lord and we must appreciate it.
