The Republic
What is a republic?
When was the republic started?
It was started in 509 B.C. by Roman nobles who overthrew a dictatorial king
Indirect and Direct
Indirect Democracy
people elect representatives
the representatives make decisions or vote
Direct Democracy
decisions are made directly by the citizens
It is a form of government
Both have to vote for what they want in their government
Ex. Indirect votes for representatives while Direct votes for policies.
The citizens have the power to choose a leaders who will create government laws
They vote for the policies they want
