Newton's Three Laws Newton's First Law An object will remain at rest or move with constant velocity until it is acted upon by a net force. The ball is at rest until it is picked up. Newton's Second Law Objects accelerate in the direction that the force is applied. The ball is pushed forward and accelerates in the direction of the goal. Newton's Third Law For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The ball hits the backboard, and the backboard gives off an equal and opposite reaction and the ball goes into the net. The End
