Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy Resources
Something to think about...

Non-Renewable
Resource
Non-Renewable Resources
A nonrenewable resource is a natural resource that cannot be re-made or re-grown at a scale comparable to its consumption.

Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy comes from the radioactive decay of uranium.

Why is uranium a non-renewable resource?
How does uranium decay?
Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels include coal, oil and natural gas.

Why are they called fossil fuels?
Why are they non-renewable?
How is coal made?
How are oil and natural gas made?
So... if non-renewable resources get used up faster than they are produced, what about renewable resources?
Renewable Resources
Renewable resources are natural resources that can be remade in a short period of time.

Solar Energy
Energy that comes from transforming the Sun's radiant energy into electricity.

Why is this energy renewable?
Geothermal Energy
Energy that comes from using the Earth's heat.

Why is this energy renewable?
Wind Energy
Energy that comes from transforming the wind's energy into mechanical energy.

Why is this renewable?
Hydroelectricity
Energy obtained by converting water's kinetic energy into electrical energy.

Why is this renewable?
Biomass
Biomass energy is obtained by burning organic matter (living matter).

How is this renewable?
