city dates back to the IV century

Classified as world heritage patrimony by UNESCO

Voted Best European Destination in 2012 and 2014 by the European citizens

Gave its name to Portugal, a country that has defined borders since 1267

The city gives its name to the worldwide renowned Port Wine
The oldest and worldwide renowned film director Manoel de Oliveira, was born in Porto in 1908

The greatest cellist Guilhermina Suggia was born in Porto in 1885

Two Pritzker Architecture Prize laureates: Eduardo Souto de Moura and Álvaro Siza
Had the largest concrete span of any bridge in the world (1963).
International airport Francisco Sá Carneiro is located 11 km from the city center

Connections with most European capitals and cities and other major cities, such as New York, Toronto, and Rio de Janeiro
