Heart Of Atlanta Motel, Inc. vs. United States African Americans were not able to stay there It led to trouble with the Civil Rights Act Segregation was still present in southern parts of the US Facts Happened in 1964 Large 216 room motel in Atlanta Wouldnt rent rooms to African American 75% of the motel's clientele were from out of state Issues Regarding Case Decision of case December 14, 1964 had to recieve business from all races Congress found it hard to see that an amendment was dismissing rights of citizens Restraining civil rights legislation The trial had to be by the US not Georgia High percentage of clients out
