Transcript of Goodwill Industries

Started in 1902 by a Methodist minister, Reverend Edgar J. Helms, in Boston Massachusetts.
Brought into practice to bring in old items as contribution to the congregation.
Background
Goodwill Industries
The money the Goodwill retail stores make goes to toward certain services such as job training, employment placement services, and other community-based programs for people who have disabilities.
Purpose
"Goodwill works to enhance the dignity and quality of life of individuals and families by strengthening communities, eliminating barriers to opportunity, and helping people in need reach their full potential through learning and the power of work."

Goodwill's Motto: PRIDE

I = Integrity.
D = Dedication.

Values and Culture
Offer job-training, employment placement services, and other community-based programs in order to help those with barriers to employment.

Transitional Jobs Program.
To create fully functioning and experienced employees so that they may become apart of the much larger labor/ workforce.

Pop up donation boxes and other donation centers that are built around Goodwill locations seem to cause immediate competitor issues.

If you are able to provide a “WOW” experience to a customer and they call in to give a good comment based on that experience you get a ten dollar gift card for McDonald’s to pay for your lunch.
