WORLD WAR II RISING DICTATORSHIPS In Italy, Benito Mussolini rose to power. In the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin became dictator. In Germany, rose one of the most notorious dictators of all time,
Adolf Hitler. Mussolini transformed Italy into a facist country. Fascism is a form of socialism which takes total control of political, economical, religious, cultural, and social activities. Stalin established the Five-year plan in his country. This plan aimed at making Russia a modern, industrial and military state. Hitler was the leader of the Nazi Party, and by 1934, Hitler had transformed Germany into a totalitarian state. He called himself "Der Furhrer" (the leader), and named his government the Third Reich. Churchill was one of the few that knew that Hitler and Nazi Germany threatened the free world. After Hitler and his army demanded the Polish corridor they decided to take it by force. Germany attacked Poland. Because of this on September 3, 1939 France and Great Britain declare war on Germany. The United States tries to stay neutral as long as possible. They even passed the Neutrality Act. But when the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor incident occured the U.S. could not take it anymore. Japan was in big trouble with the United States as soon as they followed through with the bombings on the neutral country. The United States makes a big comeback to Japan by dropping deadly bombs on both Hiroshim and Nagasaki. Throughout World War II there were several unforgettable battles fought making this war one of the most famed wars in all of history. There are battles, such as: The Battle of the Bulge D-Day And V-E Day Everytime we think of WWII we all mainly think of Hitler's inhumanity to the Jews. The Holocaust will go down in history, and will always be remembered because of the cruel and heartless things that occured in the Nazi Concentration Camps. Even though the war ended well it will never make up for the events that took place during this tragic war.
