The Refugee Project provides space for integration as a double way process: asylum seekers meet local volunteers!
We have daily activities in all the centers in Sofia and work with asylum seekers and refugees: children, youth and adults.
Our activities are:
English, Bulgarian, Music, Art /kids and women/, Creativity /arts, cookery, sports/ and IT
Trips and events
Our methods are:
Non-formal education, learning by doing, free play
Our volunteers are:
recruited for a period of 4 months
selected, trained and supported
more than 300 since 2010
spending at least 2h per week in the project
Our challenges are:

Dynamics of migrant situation
Difficulties in the camps
Learning difficulties due to traumatic experiences in the past
coordinating so many volunteers
coordinating so many coordinators
juggling between different stakeholders
changes in volunteers program
bureaucracy
funding
media and society
But our favorite words are:

flexibility
motivation
volunteering
patience
individual approach
