Low running costs
Duplicate copies are easily produced Disadvantages Noisy
Poor quality printouts
Slow to print as it prints a line of dots at the same time Applications Useful when copies are required such as companies requiring invoices
Invoices that use multipart stationary Plotter Printer Advantages
The dots are so fine the accuracy and quality is very good Disadvantages
Slow
Noisy Applications
Producing large drawings in fine detail, e.g. architectural plans Lazer Printer (Non Impact Printer) Advantages
Very good quality output
Faster than Inkjet Disadvantages
Moderate to expensivene cost, although purchasing costs have reduced
Toner can be expensive Applications
Suitable for most purposes, in particular high volume printer Inkjet Printer Advantages
Useful for low volume printing
Generally cheap to purchase
Almost silent Disadvantages
Cartridges can be expensive
Slow to print Applications
Suitable for most home use Data Compression RTF - RICH TEXT FORMAT - ALLOWS USERS TO TRANSFER DATA BETWEEN DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS; OPENED
USING A VARIETY OF WORD PROCESSING APPLICATIONS.

TXT - PLAIN TEXT - ALLOWS THE TRANSFER OF TEXT AND NUMBERS BUT WILL NOT HOLD THE
FORMATTING USED

CSV - COMMA SEPERATED VARIABLE- USES COMMAS TO DECIDE WHEN THE DATA IS BROKEN UP INTO LISTS/CELLS,ROWS;
IMPORTS FILES DIRECTLY INTO A DATABASE OR SPREADSHEET

JPEG - JOINT PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPERTS GROUP - A COMPRESSED GRAPHIC FORMAT;POPULAR WITH WEB IMAGES

MPEG - MOVING PICTURE EXPERTS GROUP - A COMPRESSED FILE FORMAT FOR DIGITAL VIDEO

GIF - GRAPHIC INTERCHANGE FORMAT - A GRAPHICS FILE THAT SUPPORTS COMPRESSED IMAGES

MP3 - MPEG 1 AUDIO LAYER 3 - COMPRESSED RECORDINGS THAT LEAVE OUT THE NOISE NOT DETECTABLE
BY THE HUMAN EAR

MP4 - MOTION PICTURE EXPERTS GROUP 4 - COMMONLY USED TO STORE DIGITAL VIDEO AND DIGITAL AUDIO STREAMS

MIDI - MUSICAL INSTRUMENT DIGITAL INTERFACE - A FILE EXTENSION USED TO STORE DIGITAL MUSIC

PDF - PORTABLE DOCUMENT FILE FORMAT- USED FOR EASY PRINTING AND SHARING OF DOCUMENTS, COMMONLY USED FOR
PUBLISHING DOCUMENTS ON THE INTERNET

HTML - HYPERTEXT MARKUP LANGUAGE - ASSOSIATED WITH WEB PAGE DESIGN

ZIP - ZIP - FOR COMPRESSING FILES AND FOLDER STRUCTURES INTO A SINGLE FILE TO
REDUCE FILE SIZE What is E- Commerce? Business Advantages
