Why Was Adolf Hitler So Mean?
Transcript of Why Was Adolf Hitler So Mean?
By: Bryn Walker A3
Over the past few years, I had heard several things that supposedly led up to why Adolf Hitler was so mean, but none of them were set in stone. I knew that Hitler wanted to become an artist, mainly with painting. I also knew that Hitler wasn't even born in Germany. He was actually born in Austria, near the border of Germany. I was also aware that Hitler considered blond-haired, blue-eyed people perfect, but I didn't know why.
What I knew:
Hitler had a very hard childhood. "Beaten by his father, the future dictator used to bully his sister,"(Diver). So, not only was he getting beaten by his father, but he would beat his sister. His family was very abusive. Another thing was, he actually really loved art, and he had planned on going to an art school. Unfortunately, his father got in the way and made him go to a military school. His first year at military school, he was held back because he did so badly. All of these things would change his life forever.
Question #1: How Was Hitler's Childhood?
This next picture is of Hitler in his first year of military school. You can tell just by his facial expressions that he is not happy. He even has his arms crossed.
Why exactly did Hitler target the jews? Hitler came to power after WWI. At that time, Germany was struggling. There was an economic depression hitting Germany really hard, and all of this allowed Hitler to gain power. Once he came to power, he needed someone to blame for everything, so he came upon the Jews. ¨The Nazis falsely considered the Jews to be a race. Among these stereotypes were those derived from centuries-old Christian anti-Jewish thinking, which incorrectly presented Jews as murderers of Christ, agents of the devil, and practitioners of witchcraft,¨(United States Holocaust Memorial Museum). None of this was true, it was just a false belief, or Fallacy, to persuade people that Jews were bad.
Question #2: Why did he target the Jews?
This is a picture of Hitler as a baby. In this picture he looks so innocent, but later we find out that was not the case.
Why do you think Hitler was so mean?
In class, I did a survey asking Why You Thought Hitler Was So Mean. Here are the results............
How was Hitler's childhood?
Why did he target the Jews?
Why were blue-eyed, blond-
haired people considered "perfect"?

Question #3:Why did Hitler think that blue-eyed, blond-haired people were "perfect"?
"Although Adolf Hitler claimed the Germans were of a superior Aryan race of white, tall, blonde hair, blue eyed individuals, he himself was of modest height, blue-eyed, and brown-haired. Traudl Junge, his last secretary often told in interviews, that people were amazed about Hitlers blue eyes. Those who met Hitler, after the War often refer, in their reminiscences, to his remarkable pale, clear blue eyes, which many state, unequivocally, had a distinctly hypnotic quality"(RHP). "He thought Aryans were genetically dominant. The stereotypical Aryan was blonde-haired and blue-eyed, but that's just like the stereotypical Japanese person having straight jet-black hair; few people thought that you had to look like the stereotype to be Asian"(Amarkov). So, basicly, they hunted down the people who were not blond-haired and blue-eyed. How would you feel if you were being hunted just because of your looks? They forced the Jews to wear a golden star so that they would know if they were a Jew or not. Many people died from misunderstanding.
This is a picture of the six-pointed star that all Jews had to wear. If they failed to wear it, they were severly punished. Everyone, ages 6 and up, were required to wear this.
This is referred to as the Star of David.
So, what exactly did you get out of this? Well, for one, we now know that Hitler had a horrible childhood of regular beatings. We also know that he targeted the Jews because he needed someone to blame. Lastly, Hitler thought that blue-eyed, blond-haired people were perfect, because that was a stereotype. So, does this all lead into my biggest question, "Why Was Hitler so Mean?" This information couldv'e been the cause, but we honestly have no exact answer, because Hitler's dead. We don't have any idea what was running through his head. These are just guesses, and like I said, they could be completly accurate. But then, they could be completly off.
