Spiritual Gifts: Leadership
Transcript of Spiritual Gifts: Leadership
The unique and God-given ability to direct others that they are responsible for, in a way that helps those people spiritually, and helps a group accomplish those things God has called them to do.
What about serving?
What if I am leading but not gifted?
Do I Have the Gift of Administration?
Do you tend to think of a lot of ideas about what could happen or be done in the future and get excited about dreaming up new possibilities?
Do you tend to be a big picture or philosophy sort of person who is driven by the why behind decisions as much as the need for the decision itself?
Are you comfortable giving direction and commands to others because you see the value of people knowing what to do, how to do it, and when to get it done?
Confuse derived authority with actual authority
Do you think the best use of your time is thinking through what needs to happen instead of rolling up your sleeves and just getting started?
Do you enjoy being the final decision maker? The responsibility is heavy at times but, you embrace the role.
Do they work at all?
Hebrews 13:17 “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”
Romans 13:1 “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”
Ephesians 6:1 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right,”
Ephesians 5:22 “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.”
1. As a gift, it includes giving direction
2. As an expression of the gift it is limited to a particular group of people
By seeing the big picture, rightly prioritizing what needs to happen, and setting a vision for everyone to get on board with.
serving = work
leading = lazy
Done spiritually, leadership is a different kind of work.
“12 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”
